TV tonight

Earlier this evening I was watching Criminal Minds (2005-ongoing, Jeff Davis – Creator), and for those that do not watch it, they tend to end every episode with a quote that kind of sums up the episode, from a famous person. The episode that is sticking with me – well, actually, the quote is, I can’t really remember the episode details already! *laughs* Any way, it was a Maya Angelou poem, Alone.

Lying, thinking
Last night
How to find my soul a home
Where water is not thirsty
And bread loaf is not stone
I came up with one thing
And I don’t believe I’m wrong
That nobody,
But nobody
Can make it out here alone.

Alone, all alone
Nobody, but nobody
Can make it out here alone.

There are some millionaires
With money they can’t use
Their wives run round like banshees
Their children sing the blues
They’ve got expensive doctors
To cure their hearts of stone.
But nobody
No, nobody
Can make it out here alone.

Alone, all alone
Nobody, but nobody
Can make it out here alone.

Now if you listen closely
I’ll tell you what I know
Storm clouds are gathering
The wind is gonna blow
The race of man is suffering
And I can hear the moan,
‘Cause nobody,
But nobody
Can make it out here alone.

Alone, all alone
Nobody, but nobody
Can make it out here alone.

Poem found on Poem Hunter site, originally submitted to site on January 23, 2012 and edited on March 29, 2014.
The character AJ, portrayed by Jennifer Jareau, said the last lines from the poem and it really stuck with me… Alone, all alone / Nobody, but nobody / Can make it out here alone. Wow. Potent lines. In full disclosure, I am not a poetry person, at all. But those lines really spoke to me. Powerful words from a powerful lady.
K, I’m so outtie….
